About

The Action Security Group is growing, and we are looking for an experienced Access Control Technician to join our team in Edmonton.

This role is ideal for someone who has hands-on experience installing, servicing, and troubleshooting access control systems, electrified door hardware, intercoms, and related low-voltage security equipment. We are looking for a technician who takes pride in clean, professional work, communicates well with customers and team members, and wants to grow with a company that supports commercial, institutional, multi-family, and industrial clients across Alberta.

The successful candidate will work on a variety of projects involving access control, door hardware, intercom systems, cameras, automatic door operators, and integrated security solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Install, service, and troubleshoot access control systems
  • Install and connect readers, strikes, maglocks, door contacts, REX devices, power supplies, and control panels
  • Support installation and service of intercoms, video entry systems, and related security equipment
  • Run, terminate, and test low-voltage cabling
  • Work with electrified door hardware and coordinate with locksmiths, door hardware teams, and other trades
  • Diagnose system issues and provide practical solutions
  • Complete service calls, small projects, and larger installations
  • Communicate professionally with customers, site contacts, and internal team members
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe work practices
  • Complete basic documentation, service notes, and project updates

Qualifications and Experience

  • Experience with access control, low-voltage security, or related systems
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to read basic wiring diagrams and follow installation instructions
  • Experience with electrified door hardware is considered an asset
  • Experience with platforms such as Kantech, Avigilon, Keyscan, Akuvox, ICT, CDVI, Brivo, or similar systems is considered an asset
  • Valid driver’s licence
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Clean, professional installation habits
  • Willingness to learn and grow with the company
