About the role

Role Summary

The Account Executive (AE) is responsible for driving net-new revenue growth across assigned Gig territory through a mix of door-to-door canvassing, appointment setting, lead follow-up, and relationship selling in Residential, MDU, and SMB segments. The AE owns the sales process from first contact through close and ensures clean handoff for installation/activation.

Key Responsibilities

Prospecting & New Customer Acquisition

  • Generate new customer opportunities through door-to-door canvassing, community/event presence, referrals, and targeted outreach.
  • Identify decision makers, qualify interest/need, and communicate OhioGig’s value proposition clearly and professionally.
  • Build and execute a weekly territory/building plan aligned with Supervisor direction.

Full-Cycle Sales Execution

  • Manage the full sales cycle: prospect → qualify → educate → proposal/offer → close → install/activation handoff.
  • Ensure accuracy of address/unit information, serviceability, order details, and customer expectations.
  • Coordinate with internal teams to support smooth installs, reduce fallout, and improve customer experience.

MDU & SMB Development (as assigned)

  • MDU: Build relationships with property managers/owners, support building-level penetration plans, and coordinate onsite access/communications.
  • SMB: Identify and pursue local businesses, coordinate requirements, and drive timely close and install readiness.

CRM & Reporting (Contacts-Only HubSpot Rule)

  • HubSpot is the system of record for customer contacts and sales outcomes only.
  • Required in HubSpot:
    • Log any live customer contact (door conversation, phone conversation, text/email exchange, meeting, appointment).
    • Create/maintain appropriate Contact/Company records as needed and log activities same-day.
    • Maintain qualified opportunities per your team process (stage, value, next step).
  • Do NOT log in HubSpot: no-answer door knocks / attempt-only entries / bulk door attempts without contact.
  • Maintain professional, accurate notes and follow-up discipline.

Activity Standard & Daily Execution

  • When assigned to canvassing, the AE is expected to complete 60 doors per day.
  • Because HubSpot is contacts-only, door activity is tracked using a Daily Log (separate from HubSpot), submitted same-day per Supervisor direction.

Team Cadence & Professional Standards

  • Participate in required 1:1s, pipeline reviews, training, and team meetings.
  • Represent OhioGig professionally in the field and in all customer interactions.
  • Follow territory strategy and messaging standards; maintain compliance with any building/community rules.

Work Schedule Expectations

Standard Schedule

Schedule is set based on territory needs and Supervisor direction and may include evenings as needed to reach customers.

Summer Schedule (Required)

During the summer period (typically Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend, unless otherwise defined):

  • Saturdays are required: 11:00 AM – 7:00 PM
  • One weekday may be removed to maintain a 5-day workweek (e.g., take Monday off after working Saturday), with Supervisor approval to ensure coverage and meeting alignment.

Compensation (Overview)

Base pay plus commission Commission is paid at 1.5x on every eligible sales dollar sold, per the current OhioGig AE Compensation Plan and crediting rules.

Success Metrics (How Performance Is Measured)

  • Activity: 60 doors/day on canvassing days (tracked via Daily Log)
  • Customer contacts logged in HubSpot (quality + completeness)
  • Appointments set/held and conversion rates
  • Closed-won sales and eligible sales dollars sold
  • Install/activation quality (fallout reduction, clean handoffs)
  • Pipeline health and follow-up execution

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Strong communication and persuasion skills; comfortable engaging customers in-person and by phone
  • Ability to handle objections, stay organized, and follow a repeatable daily process
  • Self-motivated with consistent execution and coachability
  • Basic comfort with technology (HubSpot, mobile tools, email/text communication)

Preferred

  • Prior door-to-door, telecom/ISP, home services, or SMB selling experience
  • Experience selling in MDU environments (property management relationships)

Physical & Work Environment (Field Role)

  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and walk/stand for extended periods
  • Ability to travel within assigned Gig territory as required
