Responsibilities
- Manage daily bookkeeping activities, including data entry, journal entries, and double-entry bookkeeping to ensure accurate recording of financial transactions.
- Reconcile accounts such as the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank statements to maintain balanced books.
- Prepare and review financial statements, including balance sheets and income statements, adhering to GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and relevant governmental accounting standards.
- Process payroll using systems like ADP, Paychex, Kronos, or UltiPro, ensuring timely and accurate payroll management.
- Conduct account analysis and account reconciliation to identify discrepancies and resolve issues promptly.
- Assist with budgeting, tax preparation, and compliance activities, including SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) controls where applicable.
- Utilize various accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, PeopleSoft, Ceridian, or similar platforms for efficient financial management.
- Support audits by preparing necessary documentation and ensuring adherence to internal controls and policies.
- Collaborate with teams on financial concepts like credit analysis, financial services, and data entry to optimize financial processes.
Experience
- Proven experience in corporate accounting or governmental accounting environments with a strong understanding of GAAP standards.
- Hands-on experience with popular accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, or equivalent systems; familiarity with Workday or PeopleSoft is a plus.
- Knowledge of payroll management systems including ADP or Paychex; experience with Kronos or UltiPro is advantageous.
- Strong background in accounts payable/receivable processing, balance sheet reconciliation, journal entries, and general ledger accounting.
- Demonstrated ability to perform account analysis, account reconciliation, and financial statement preparation accurately.
- Experience working within public accounting firms or non-profit organizations is desirable.
- Excellent math skills combined with attention to detail for precise data entry and account analysis.
