In this role, you’ll help ensure the accuracy, reliability, and effectiveness of financial operations tied to Medicaid, CHIP, and other national healthcare programs.
Salary: $108,173 – $158,322/year (varies by location)
Locations: Atlanta, GA | Boston, MA | Dallas, TX | Denver, CO | Kansas City, MO | Philadelphia, PA | Seattle, WA | Woodlawn, MD
Telework: Yes (as determined by agency policy) | Remote: No
Appointment Type: Permanent, Full‑Time
Travel: Occasional (up to 5%)
What you’ll do:
- Provide expert accounting support to financial managers and program stakeholders
- Review and analyze financial documents, reports, and accounting information
- Identify discrepancies and recommend corrective action
- Ensure compliance with financial controls and accounting policies
- Translate accounting and audit language into clear guidance for leadership and stakeholders
- Monitor accounting operations to improve accuracy, efficiency, and financial integrity
What we’re looking for (GS‑13):
Applicants must have 1 year specialized experience equivalent to GS‑12, including:
- Interpreting financial management, fiscal, and accounting policies related to Medicaid, CHIP, or other national healthcare programs
- Reviewing and analyzing healthcare or state financial management and accounting information to resolve discrepancies
- Interpreting or implementing regulations, manuals, guidelines, memoranda, policy letters, and/or reports to communicate financial management policies to stakeholders
Required Qualifications:
- Degree in accounting, or related field with 24 semester hours in accounting
- OR
- Combination of education and experience that meets the accounting requirement
- Transcripts required at time of application
- CPA/CIA certificate may qualify under the alternative education/experience pathway
