Overview
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Office Manager to oversee daily administrative and financial operations within our organization. The ideal candidate will possess strong accounting knowledge, including familiarity with GAAP, SOX compliance, and various accounting software platforms such as QuickBooks, Sage, and Xero. This role requires excellent leadership skills, including mentoring team members, and a solid understanding of both non-profit and corporate accounting practices. The Office Manager will play a critical role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and efficient office management to support our organizational goals.
Responsibilities
- Manage all aspects of financial accounting, including general ledger reconciliation, accounts payable and receivable, journal entries, and bank reconciliations.
- Prepare and interpret financial statements, reports, and analyses to inform strategic decision-making.
- Oversee regulatory reporting requirements in accordance with applicable laws such as securities law and governmental regulations.
- Ensure compliance with SOX controls and other internal policies related to financial management.
- Utilize accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, PeopleSoft, and other financial tools to maintain accurate records.
- Conduct budgeting processes, cash flow analysis, forecasting, and financial analysis to support organizational planning.
- Maintain detailed documentation of financial transactions following GAAP standards and technical accounting principles.
- Supervise and mentor finance staff or interns; foster professional development within the team.
- Coordinate with external auditors during audits and ensure adherence to auditing standards.
- Support non-profit accounting functions including Wills, Trusts & Estate Law considerations when applicable.
- Manage payroll processing and ensure compliance with tax regulations and reporting requirements.
- Assist in preparing regulatory reports and ensuring all financial activities meet legal standards.
Skills
- Extensive knowledge of accounting principles including GAAP, accrual accounting, double-entry bookkeeping, debits & credits.
- Proficiency with multiple accounting software platforms such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, PeopleSoft; strong skills in Microsoft Excel for data analysis.
- Familiarity with SOX compliance, LIHTC programs, securities law, governmental accounting standards, corporate finance concepts.
- Experience with financial report writing and interpretation for diverse stakeholders.
- Strong understanding of financial concepts such as balance sheet reconciliation, account analysis, cash flow management.
- Ability to perform complex financial analysis including budgeting, forecasting, and private equity considerations.
- Knowledge of regulatory reporting requirements for nonprofit organizations or corporate entities.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to mentor team members effectively.
