Role and Responsibilities:
As an Accounting Analyst, you will support a variety of finance and accounting functions across WM's Area Finance/Accounting teams and Corporate Finance departments. This role involves executing financial tasks, providing analytical support, and contributing to financial reporting accuracy.
- Execute moderately complex financial tasks accurately and on time, following abstract project guidelines.
- Perform month-end close activities, including preparing journal entries of varying complexity.
- Analyze general ledger accounts for accuracy and prepare monthly/quarterly account reconciliations with documented conclusions.
- Analyze monthly financial results and provide meaningful insights based on trend analysis.
- Collect and analyze financial data; prepare combined monthly financial statements and reports.
- Coordinate and review monthly financial package preparation for accuracy.
- Assist in evaluating and documenting accounting implications of potential transactions.
- Participate in monthly financial review meetings.
- Provide guidance to Finance personnel on internal and external financial procedures.
- Assist in maintaining and executing internal controls responsibilities in a timely and accurate manner.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree (accredited) or High School Diploma or GED (accredited) with four years of relevant work experience.
- Three (3) years of relevant work experience required in addition to educational requirements.
- General understanding of US GAAP, Sarbanes-Oxley, and SEC regulations.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong business acumen.
- Ability to travel up to 10%.
- Must be in the Houston area (no relocation available).
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in both Big 4/Public Accounting and Industry roles.
