Accounting Data & Analytics Specialist

Job Summary:

ProspectBlue is looking for a detail-oriented professional with a passion for data and analytics to join our clients Richmond based accounting team. This evolving role focuses on analyzing financial data, creating actionable insights, and supporting accounting processes with strong analytical rigor. Ideal candidates are comfortable working in an accounting environment and have a solid foundation in data analysis, reporting, and modeling.

Key Responsibilities:

• Analyze accounting and financial data to support decision-making and process improvements
• Build, maintain, and interpret reports and dashboards to track financial performance
• Perform data modeling and ad hoc analyses to identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities
• Collaborate with accounting and finance teams to ensure accurate data capture and reporting
• Support process optimization initiatives through data-driven insights
• Assist with general accounting tasks as needed

Qualifications:

• Strong analytical skills and comfort working with data (Excel, pivot tables, reporting, modeling, etc.)
• Familiarity with accounting and finance concepts
• Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving capabilities
• Effective communication skills, able to translate data insights for non-technical stakeholders

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with accounting software or ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, QuickBooks, SAP)
• Knowledge of data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau)
• Interest in developing deeper expertise in accounting analytics

Education:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Analytics, or a related field preferred
