ARServices is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager – General Ledger to play a key hands-on role in the finance and accounting operations of our growing government contracting firm. This position combines core general ledger management with process leadership, team support, and cross-functional collaboration. The ideal candidate is a proactive, detail-oriented accounting professional with strong expertise in Deltek Costpoint, government contracting (GovCon) accounting under FAR and DCAA guidelines, and experience supporting month-end close, payroll, billing, and financial reporting. You will help ensure the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of our financial operations while contributing to process improvements in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.
Position Description
The Accounting Manager – General Ledger will oversee and execute day-to-day general ledger activities, support accounts payable/receivable and billing processes, manage payroll and benefits administration, prepare audit-ready financial reports and reconciliations, and collaborate across departments to maintain financial data integrity. This role reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and is critical to maintaining compliance and supporting the company’s continued growth as a trusted federal contractor.
Location & Travel
This is a full-time, onsite position based at ARServices Headquarters in Falls Church, Virginia. Minimal travel is expected.

Responsibilities
A qualified candidate will perform the following duties and responsibilities, but are not limited to:
- Execute and oversee general ledger activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end / year-end close processes.
- Manage or support accounts payable, accounts receivable, and billing functions within Deltek Costpoint.
- Act as backup for invoice preparation and submission to federal and commercial clients (CPFF, T&M, FFP contracts) using the WAWF platform.
- Prepare and analyze financial reports, account reconciliations, and audit-ready schedules.
- Support the management and tracking of indirect cost rates and related pools.
- Collaborate with project managers, contracts, HR, and vendors to ensure financial data integrity across departments.
- Process biweekly payroll in Paychex Flex, including time review, payroll reporting, and general ledger payroll entries.
- Coordinate and administer employee benefits programs, including enrollments, terminations, and reconciliations of related expenses.
- Support financial audits (DCAA or external) and maintain compliance with Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR).
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting and payroll processes and contribute to system optimization.
- All other duties as assigned.
Security Clearance Requirement
U.S. Citizenship required. No security clearance is required for this position.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 5–10 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3+ years in a government contracting (GovCon) environment.
- Demonstrated expertise with Deltek Costpoint (GL, Projects, AP, AR, Billing, Journal Entries, and Reporting modules) and full monthly closing process.
- Proficiency with Paychex Flex or similar payroll systems, including payroll reporting and general ledger interface.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills with the ability to manage and analyze large data sets.
- Excellent organizational, problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple deadlines, and maintain confidentiality.
Desired Qualifications
- General knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and DCAA requirements.
- Experience supporting financial audits (DCAA or external).
- Demonstrated ability to improve accounting processes or contribute to system enhancements.
- Familiarity with benefits administration, including employer-sponsored health plans and 401(k) matching.
