Senior Accountant / Accounting Manager (Consulting)

This position will play a critical role supporting accounting operations, financial reporting, internal controls, and cross-functional financial processes within a lean finance team.

Position Overview

The Senior Accountant / Accounting Manager will oversee core accounting functions including AP, AR, payroll oversight, month-end close, reconciliations, expense management, and financial reporting activities. This individual will also support process improvement initiatives and partner closely with operational leadership to ensure efficient and accurate financial operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable operations
• Support payroll processing and related accounting activities
• Manage employee expense reimbursement processes
• Lead month-end and year-end close activities
• Prepare and review financial reporting and reconciliations
• Maintain and improve accounting processes and internal controls
• Support audit readiness and compliance initiatives
• Partner cross-functionally with operational leaders and program managers
• Assist with cash flow monitoring and operational accounting support
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and workflow efficiencies

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• CPA required
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting
• Experience managing full-cycle accounting operations
• Strong AP/AR and payroll exposure
• Sage Intacct experience strongly preferred
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
• Experience within nonprofit or mission-driven organizations preferred but not required
