BreakForth Solutions is seeking a part-time Accounting Specialist to join our team of professional, results-oriented staff who will provide comprehensive financial business management support. The ideal candidate will have proven industry experience as an accountant, preferably in a mid-level role within a Federal Contracting environment. The Accounting Specialist serves as a vital member of the internal corporate staff and works closely with the CFO, Executive Team, Finance Team, and Operations Teams. The Accounting Specialist will manage, execute, and evaluate day-to-day financial activities.

• Note – This position may be converted to full-time at a later date.

Essential Functions

  • Execute diverse accounting and finance duties in an Unanet accounting systems environment.
  • Process and analyze monthly customer invoices while accurately invoicing all billable costs.
  • Process monthly vendor invoices.
  • Analyze and post monthly accruals and other adjusting entries.
  • Enter new projects and modifications in Unanet.
  • Serve as lead for Time and Labor in Unanet; provide direct support to the project teams on time and labor issues, including subcontractors.
  • Prepare labor reconciliations for review and posting of labor.
  • Enter new hires and process terminations within Unanet.
  • Process payroll using ADP Workforce Now in a timely and efficient manner, including the production of health and welfare statements for Service Contract Act personnel.
  • Support the Finance Team to develop the annual budget to maximize revenue and identify potential areas of cost savings.
  • Provide recommendations to improve systems and procedures and initiate corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies, government regulations, and accounting principles.
  • Provide comprehensive accounting updates to the Executive Team.
  • Help develop and support short- and long-term operational strategies.

Education/Skills/Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in Accounting in a Federal Contracting environment; 7 years’ experience can be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Knowledge of the practices and principles of government contracts accounting, budgeting, cash management, contract management, and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
  • Well-versed in FAR, CAS, and general compliance.
  • Current experience with Unanet and ADP Workforce Now.
  • Be able to process semi-monthly payroll using ADP Workforce Now.
  • Progressive experience as a self-starter with the ability to effectively execute coordination activities, make independent and sound judgments and decisions, and identify gaps in existing processes and documentation.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365, including Word; Excel; PowerPoint; Outlook; Teams; SharePoint;proficientin Adobe Acrobat Professional and other relevant software.
  • Possess and demonstrate excellent and professional oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent time and priority management skills with proven experience meeting tight deadlines; ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to react to project and organizational adjustments and alterations promptly and efficiently.
  • Ability to conform to shifting priorities, demands, and timelines by implementing analytical and problem-solving capabilities to maintain multiple project schedules.
  • Able to collaborate and interact with internal and external stakeholders effectively and professionally; must be a team player, be hands-on, and take ownership of projects.
  • Exceptional customer service skills; ability to share and alleviate concerns and conflicts in a proof-positive manner and provide effective solutions, resulting in positive outcomes.
  • Exceptional analytical and listening skills; willingness to learn new concepts.
  • Must be detail-oriented and possess critical thinking, focused leadership, and time management skills.
