About the role
Job Summary
The Taxation Officer is responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable tax laws and regulations. This role involves preparing, reviewing, and filing tax returns, maintaining accurate records, advising management on tax matters, and coordinating with external auditors and authorities. The officer plays a key role in minimizing tax risks while optimizing tax efficiency for the organization.
Key Responsibilities
1. Tax Compliance & Filings
- Prepare and file GST returns (GSTR-1, GSTR-3B, annual returns, etc.)
- Ensure timely payment of taxes (GST, TDS, Advance Tax, etc.)
- Maintain compliance with Income Tax laws and other statutory requirements
2. GST & Indirect Tax Management
- Monitor input tax credit (ITC) and reconcile with purchase records
- Handle GST audits, assessments, and notices
- Ensure proper classification of goods/services and applicable tax rates
3. Direct Taxation
- Manage TDS calculations, deductions, and filings
- Assist in corporate income tax returns and assessments
- Coordinate with consultants for tax planning and optimization
4. Record Keeping & Documentation
- Maintain accurate tax records, invoices, and supporting documents
- Ensure proper documentation for audits and regulatory checks
5. Audit & Liaison
- Support internal and external audits related to taxation
- Liaise with tax authorities, auditors, and consultants
- Respond to notices, queries, and assessments
6. Advisory & Process Improvement
- Advise management on tax implications of business decisions
- Identify opportunities for tax savings and compliance improvements
- Stay updated on changes in tax laws and regulations.
