About the role

Key Roles & Responsibilities

  • Assist the Managed Care Actuary in monitoring and managing claims risks across medical scheme clients
  • Evaluate the impact of managed care interventions and report on performance trends
  • Extract, manipulate, and interrogate large datasets to provide meaningful insights
  • Present analytical findings clearly and translate results into strategic client advice
  • Engage healthcare providers on behalf of, or in collaboration with, clients
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Provide input on benefit design, pricing, and reserving for client medical schemes

Skills & Experience

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability
  • Advanced Excel capability; experience with macros advantageous
  • Strong data manipulation and interpretation skills
  • SAS and/or SQL experience highly advantageous
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • High attention to detail with a strong focus on accuracy
  • Ability to work proactively in a dynamic, fast-changing environment
  • Strong teamwork and stakeholder engagement capability

Qualification

  • Degree with majors in Actuarial Science, Mathematical Statistics, or Mathematics
  • Healthcare or medical scheme experience will be advantageous

Competency Requirements

  • Enjoys working in dynamic environments rather than traditional actuarial settings
  • Comfortable analysing complex problems using large volumes of data
  • Demonstrates curiosity and does not take results at face value
