About

This position focuses on testing and evaluating products in various environmental conditions such as temperature extremes, vibration, and other factors that can affect performance and reliability. You will report directly to the Sr Test Engineering Manager and work out of our Mississauga, ON location. In this role you will design, conduct, and analyze environmental tests to validate product performance and reliability under specified conditions and collaborate with product engineers to ensure testability and coverage. A strong foundation in electronic principles, schematics, and software coding, along with problem‑solving skills to address engineering challenges, is required. The Honeywell building is a controlled goods program environment. Candidates must be eligible for CGP security clearance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and Development: Manage documentation of design processes, testing protocols, and compliance with industry standards.
  • Document test procedures, results, and recommendations for design improvements.
  • Create Basis of Estimate (BOE) to support Test Leads and work closely with vendors to obtain quotations and timely deliveries.
  • Meet Project cost solution targets.
  • Develop test software using National Instruments LabWindows and TestStand to automate product testing, focusing on technician needs.
  • Develop conceptual models and engineering prototypes to test and evaluate the functionality of electronic circuits and test systems.
  • Create detailed electronic schematics and review layouts for circuit boards, selecting components and designing equipment test racks using a combination of COTS and custom equipment.
  • Debug and troubleshoot and integrate new equipment.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance and internal customer expectations.
  • Test Planning and Execution: Develop and implement a comprehensive environmental testing approach based on product requirements and applicable standards (e.g., MIL-STD, IPC, ASTM) and develop Test Instructions and Environmental Screening Procedures.
  • Develop and present Test Equipment Preliminary and Critical Design presentations at Design Reviews to internal and external customers.
  • Conduct and analyze environmental stresses such as thermal and vibration tests to assess product reliability and performance.
  • Train ESS technicians on the software and test hardware implementation using Test Instructions.
  • Equipment Management: Create Calibration documents to maintain environmental test equipment, ensuring accuracy and compliance with industry standards.
  • Collaborate with the Engineering support team to troubleshoot equipment issues and improve equipment downtime.
  • Data Analysis and Reporting: Analyze test data and provide detailed reports on findings, including any failures or deviations from expected performance.
  • Analyze test equipment performance and provide recommendations for improvements.
  • Cross‑Functional Collaboration: Participate in planning meetings providing test systems capability, alternatives, and design options and inputs for product test methodology and test system solutions.
  • Collaborate with engineering, quality assurance, and product management teams to identify and formalize test requirements and specifications.
  • Collaborate with project leads from conception through production, working with cross‑functional teams to deliver high‑quality products on time.
  • Work closely with software engineers, mechanical engineers, and other stakeholders to integrate electronic test systems with overall product designs.
  • Prepare technical reports and presentations to communicate project status, results, and recommendations to management and clients.
  • Regulatory Compliance and Standards: Stay updated with industry standards and regulations, ensuring testing protocols align with current practices and certification requirements.
  • Participate in internal audits and continuous improvement efforts to enhance the environmental testing processes.
  • Assist in maintaining certifications by coordinating with external testing labs and auditors.
  • Ensure compliance to Health, Safety and Environmental requirements.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements in testing methodologies and techniques.
  • Stay informed about new testing technologies and industry trends to enhance testing capabilities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical, aerospace engineering or science.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in environmental testing is desirable.
  • Experience in complex test setup designs and methodologies, ideally in a regulated industry such as aerospace or automotive.

Compensation

The annual base salary for this position starts at $85,200. Honeywell considers various factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education and training, key skills, as well as market and business considerations.
