Agentic AI QA Engineering Manager (Director – Automation & Quality Engineering)

Location: Charlotte, NC; Chicago, IL; New York, NY; Atlanta, GA – Hybrid (3 days/week onsite)

Compensation: $160K – $200K base + 20% bonus

About the Role

We’re looking for a hands-on QA Engineering leader to modernize how testing is done—shifting from traditional QA to an automation-first, AI-enabled testing model.

This is a build-and-elevate role, not a maintenance role. You’ll assess the current environment, increase automation maturity, and introduce AI/LLM-driven testing approaches to improve quality, efficiency, and coverage.

If you’ve been leading QA teams but still enjoy getting into the code and building frameworks—and have started exploring how AI can enhance testing—this is a strong fit.

What You’ll Do • Lead the transformation from manual-heavy QA to automation-first engineering • Design and scale automated test frameworks (web, API, mobile) • Introduce and evolve AI-assisted testing (LLM-driven test generation, self-healing automation, intelligent prioritization) • Integrate test automation into CI/CD pipelines • Evaluate current QA maturity and drive improvements in coverage, efficiency, and reliability • Partner with engineering and product teams to align testing with real user journeys • Manage and mentor a QA team while remaining hands-on technically

What We’re Looking For • 10+ years of experience in QA Engineering / Test Automation • Proven experience leading QA teams in Agile environments • Strong hands-on experience with automation tools (Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, etc.) • Ability to design/build test frameworks, not just manage execution • Experience with CI/CD integration of automated testing • Solid scripting skills (Java, Python, or similar) • Exposure to AI/LLM usage in testing or automation (early adoption is fine) • Background in financial services or regulated environments is a plus
