Our client, a forward-thinking agricultural enterprise, is seeking an innovative Agribusiness Development Manager to spearhead growth initiatives in Zaria, Kaduna. This role is crucial for identifying new market opportunities, fostering strategic partnerships, and driving the adoption of sustainable farming practices. You will be responsible for analyzing market trends, developing business plans, and managing projects that enhance agricultural productivity and profitability. This is a field-based position requiring significant travel within the region and occasional travel to other locations. Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and evaluate new business opportunities within the agribusiness sector, including crop production, livestock, and value-added processing.
  • Develop and implement strategic business plans to achieve company growth objectives.
  • Conduct market research and feasibility studies to assess the viability of new ventures.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with farmers, cooperatives, government agencies, and other stakeholders.
  • Negotiate and manage contracts and agreements with suppliers, distributors, and clients.
  • Oversee the implementation of agricultural projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.
  • Promote and facilitate the adoption of modern and sustainable agricultural technologies and practices.
  • Analyze financial performance of agribusiness ventures and recommend strategies for improvement.
  • Organize and conduct training workshops for farmers and agricultural extension workers.
  • Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and trade fairs.
  • Monitor industry trends, regulatory changes, and competitive activities.
  • Prepare regular reports on market developments, project progress, and business performance.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Agricultural Economics, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 6 years of progressive experience in agribusiness development, project management, or business development within the agricultural sector.
  • Strong understanding of agricultural value chains, production systems, and market dynamics in Nigeria.
  • Proven experience in market analysis, strategic planning, and business plan development.
  • Excellent networking, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects and lead cross-functional teams.
  • Strong financial acumen and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences.
  • Proficiency in relevant software, including MS Office Suite and agricultural management tools.
  • Willingness to travel extensively within the region and occasionally nationally.
  • Knowledge of sustainable agriculture practices and climate-smart agriculture is a significant advantage.
