AI Application Engineer

As an AI Application Engineer, you will be part of the newly created AI Hub within Group IT and actively shape the development, implementation, and productive operation of AI applications within the SFS Group. You will develop robust, scalable LLM-based applications, ensure seamless integration into existing IT landscapes, and work closely with business, data, and cloud teams. Your work will ensure that AI solutions operate efficiently, securely, and in compliance with regulations, delivering added value to the business units.

Your tasks

• Development, implementation and production deployment of LLM-based applications (end-to-end: model integration, API layer, UI/UX connection)
• Design and operation of reusable components and services (Prompt engineering, chains/orchestration, vector database integration, caching, observability)
• Technical implementation of PoCs and MVPs up to scaling, as well as support for the transition to productive operation including CI/CD, monitoring and MLOps/LLMOps pipelines.
• Ensuring security, privacy and compliance in AI workflows (access control, data anonymization, auditability)
• Collaboration with architecture, data engineering and specialist departments to define interfaces, operationalize and optimize solutions

Your profile

• Practical experience in software development with Python or TypeScript
• At least one verifiable implementation of an LLM application (in-house development or significant contribution)
• Experience with LLM ecosystems, vector-based search (e.g., Pinecone, Milvus, Weaviate), and common frameworks/tools (e.g., LangChain, LlamaIndex, Hugging Face, OpenAI/Azure OpenAI)
• Cloud experience (Azure, AWS or GCP), containerization (Docker) and ideally Kubernetes, as well as knowledge of CI/CD (e.g., GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps)
• Excellent communication skills, a hands-on mentality, and a passion for interdisciplinary collaboration.
