PolicyMe Corp

Remote · Canada Full-time Lead Today

About the role

AI‑Driven Full‑Stack Engineer (Remote – Canada)

About Us
We’re a fast‑growing digital insurance startup based in Canada, building the next generation of AI‑powered insurance experiences. Our mission is to simplify coverage, personalize risk assessment, and deliver seamless service through cutting‑edge machine‑learning and modern web technologies. We operate a remote‑first culture, giving our team the flexibility to work from anywhere in Canada while staying tightly connected through collaborative tools and regular virtual meet‑ups.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead End‑to‑End Feature Development – Design, implement, and ship high‑impact features for our AI‑driven web platform using Python (FastAPI/Django) on the backend and React/TypeScript on the frontend.
  • Integrate AI/ML Models – Work closely with data scientists to embed predictive models, natural‑language processing pipelines, and recommendation engines into production‑grade services.
  • Architect Scalable Systems – Define micro‑service architectures, API contracts, and data pipelines that can handle rapid growth and real‑time inference workloads.
  • Own the Full Stack Lifecycle – From database schema design (PostgreSQL, MongoDB) and CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Docker, Kubernetes) to UI/UX polish and performance optimization.
  • Mentor & Collaborate – Guide junior engineers, conduct code reviews, and champion best practices in clean code, testing, and security.
  • Drive Innovation – Stay ahead of AI/ML trends, evaluate new tools (e.g., LangChain, LLM APIs, vector databases), and prototype proof‑of‑concepts that could become core product features.

Who You Are

Technical Skills Experience & Mindset
Python (3.9+) – strong grasp of async programming, REST/GraphQL APIs, and data processing libraries (pandas, NumPy). • 4+ years of professional full‑stack development, preferably in a SaaS or fintech/insurtech environment.
React (hooks, functional components) + TypeScript – building responsive, accessible UIs. • Proven ability to ship production‑ready features from concept to deployment.
AI/ML Integration – experience consuming LLMs, embeddings, or custom models via APIs or containerized services. • Comfortable working in a fast‑paced startup, iterating quickly while maintaining quality.
Databases – relational (PostgreSQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB, Redis). • Strong problem‑solving skills; can translate ambiguous business needs into technical solutions.
DevOps – Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI), cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP). • Excellent communication; able to collaborate across product, design, and data science teams.
Testing – unit, integration, end‑to‑end (Jest, Cypress, PyTest). • Passion for learning new AI technologies and applying them to real‑world problems.

Bonus points: Experience with serverless architectures, LangChain/Prompt engineering, vector search (e.g., Pinecone, Milvus), or insurance domain knowledge.

What We Offer

  • Remote‑First Flexibility – Work from anywhere in Canada; we provide a home‑office stipend.
  • Competitive Compensation – Base salary + performance‑based bonuses.
  • Equity – Stock options to share in the company’s growth.
  • Professional Development – Annual learning budget, conference tickets, and access to AI/ML courses.
  • Health & Wellness – Comprehensive medical, dental, vision, and mental‑health benefits.
  • Generous PTO – Unlimited vacation policy (subject to team commitments).
  • Collaborative Culture – Regular virtual coffee chats, hack weeks, and a supportive leadership team.

How to Apply

  1. Resume & Portfolio – Highlight relevant full‑stack projects, especially any AI/ML integrations.
  2. Cover Letter – Tell us why you’re excited about building AI‑powered insurance products and how you thrive in a remote startup environment.
  3. Technical Exercise – If shortlisted, you’ll receive a short take‑home challenge focused on building a simple React UI that consumes a Python‑based ML inference endpoint.
