AI Engineer, Advanced Platforms Team
Island Networks
About the role

Since its inception in 2012 Island Networks has built a world class team of professionals along with a customer base of blue-chip global organizations and in recent years the company has experienced rapid growth, particularly in the pharmaceutical and high-tech vertical industry sectors. The culture in Island Networks is one where attitude and ability is favored over experience.
The Opportunity
As a Senior AI Engineer, you will serve as the technical lead embedded with one to two strategic customer accounts, owning discovery through delivery. You’ll translate high-level asks like “we want an agent” into clear, buildable system specifications that your team can implement and your customer’s security stakeholders can approve. This is a senior level position targeting candidates with 5+ years of experience in the Ai space. This USA-based role sits within the Professional Services Team on the Advanced Platforms AI Practice.
Job Description and Responsibilities • Design and ship multi-agent systems on one of the following AWS Bedrock AgentCore, Azure AI Foundry, or Google Vertex AI / ADK — whichever stack the customer is committed to. You're fluent in at least two at production depth. • Architect the surrounding infrastructure: identity (OAuth 2.0, OIDC, Entra, MCP servers, agent-as-non-human-identity patterns), tool integration (Gateway / Lambda / Logic Apps / Cloud Run), persistent memory and session isolation, and policy enforcement (Bedrock Guardrails, Cedar, Foundry policies). • Build orchestration with LangGraph, CrewAI, AutoGen, or framework-equivalent — applying real patterns (ReAct, hierarchical delegation, swarm, self-reflection). • Stand up evaluation harnesses and observability (Langfuse, LangSmith, Braintrust, AgentCore Evaluations) before the customer asks. Treat evals as a deliverable not a nice to have. • Own the production cutover: IaC (Terraform / CDK), CI/CD, container platform integration (AKS / EKS / OpenShift), regional resiliency, cost controls. You don't hand the system over and disappear when it breaks at 3am of a customer's quarter-end run. • Translate hard customer feedback into product input for our internal platform team and partner roadmaps (AWS, Microsoft, Anthropic, Red Hat).
Qualifications • 1 year or more experience of hands-on production work with AWS Bedrock AgentCore or Azure AI Foundry (Foundry, formerly AI Studio / Azure OpenAI • Python as primary; TypeScript or Go as secondary. You can read someone else's stack trace in either. • RAG done well: chunking strategy with a defended rationale, embedding model selection with a real reason, vector store choice (pgvector, OpenSearch, Azure AI Search, Pinecone), re-ranking that actually moves quality numbers. • Cloud-native delivery: Kubernetes (AKS / EKS / OpenShift), Docker, Helm, Terraform or CDK, GitHub Actions / Azure DevOps / GitLab CI. You don't need to be a Platform Engineer, but you've shipped to a real cluster behind a real load balancer. • Identity for agents: OAuth 2.0, OIDC, JWT, delegated auth, MCP servers.
Nice to have skills • Experience with MCP servers: building, hosting, securing them, integrating with ServiceNow, Jira, internal tooling. • Spec-driven development tooling (Kiro, Claude Code, Cursor, Codex skills) and demonstrable productivity gains from agentic IDE workflows. • AgentCore CLI, AWS CDK skills, or AgentCore harness work in the wild. • Background in a regulated vertical (life sciences / pharma / CRO, financial services, public sector) and the muscle that goes with it — validation, audit etc. • Customer-co-authored case studies, or a public LLM project with shipped evidence. • Any AI certifications AWS, Microsoft, GCP or Redhat.
