AI Engineer / AI Developer

Your role in the team

• As an AI developer, you contribute your expertise where technology makes a real difference.
• They implement practical AI applications for all companies within our group and accompany projects from the initial idea to operational deployment.
• Together with our AI Manager, you will actively shape the development of our AI landscape.
• Development, training, and optimization of existing and new machine learning and AI models.
• Implementation of Generative AI and LLM-based applications (e.g., internal assistants, knowledge systems, automation).
• Development of data pipelines and Agentik-AI assistants as well as the integration of AI applications into existing systems (ERP, MES, CRM, BI, etc.).
• Development and operation of scalable AI solutions (OnPrem, Cloud, or hybrid).
• Development of prototypes and proof-of-concepts for new AI use cases.
• Collaboration with specialist departments to implement specific automation and optimization potentials.
• Evaluation of new AI systems together with our AI Manager.
• Participation in the development of a modern AI and data platform within the HERON Group.

Our expectations

Qualifications

• Excellent programming skills in Python; additional programming languages are an advantage.
• Understanding of modern cloud and container technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, Azure, AWS, or similar platforms).
• Good knowledge of German and English.
• Interest in industrial applications in the fields of production, mechanical engineering, and logistics.

Experience

• Experience in the development of AI or Machine Learning applications.
• Experience with common ML frameworks, LLMs, Generative AI, Agentic AI such as OpenAI, RAG architectures, LangChain, PyTorch, MCP, N8N.
• Experience with data processing and data pipelines (SQL, APIs, ETL processes).

Education

• Completed education in the field of Computer Science, Data Science, Software Engineering, or a comparable qualification.
