Volatus Aerospace is establishing Canada’s first sovereign MALE (Medium-Altitude Long-Endurance) RPAS capability through the development and production of advanced aircraft platforms. As part of this initiative, we are building a world‑class RPAS Innovation and Manufacturing Hub in Mirabel to support global markets.
Job Overview
Volatus Aerospace is seeking a driven and passionate AI Engineer to design, develop, and deploy AI‑native autonomy capabilities across the RPAS autonomy stack. This role is critical to the successful delivery of one of Canada’s most important aerospace programs.
You will focus on developing algorithms for guidance, navigation, control (GNC), state estimation, and mission autonomy. Working in a fast‑paced, multidisciplinary environment, you will take algorithms from concept to operational aircraft through rapid iteration and continuous validation using SITL, HITL, and live flight testing.
This position is based in Mirabel, Quebec.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop autonomy software components for unmanned aircraft systems
- Design and implement autonomy behaviors to support complex autonomous missions
- Validate autonomy functions using simulation and structured test workflows.
- Support integration of autonomy software into flight systems and participate in flight test iterations
- Develop performance metrics and evaluation methods for autonomy features
- Document system designs and contribute to engineering reviews and design discussions
Required Qualifications
- Degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
- Strong software engineering skills in Python and or C++
- Experience in autonomy, robotics, perception, control systems, or related fields
- Experience working with simulation environments and iterative development cycles
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with software, integration, and flight test teams
Hours of Work and Work Environment
- Standard 40‑hour workweek, Monday to Friday
- Occasional flexibility may be required to support time‑sensitive activities or flight test campaigns

Volatus Aerospace recherche un(e) ingenieur(e) en intelligence artificielle motive(e) pour concevoir, developper et deployer des capacites d’autonomie basees sur l’IA au sein de la pile d’autonomie RPAS. Ce role est essentiel a la reussite de l’un des programmes aerospatiaux les plus strategiques du Canada.
Vous serez responsable du developpement d’algorithmes de guidage, navigation et controle (GNC), d’estimation d’état et d’autonomie de mission. Vous accompagnerez les algorithmes depuis leur conception jusqu’a leur integration sur aeronefs operationnels, grace a des cycles rapides de validation en simulation, SITL, HITL et essais en vol. Le poste est base a Mirabel, Quebec.
