About the Team

In the "Embedded Systems & Artificial Intelligence" team, we address the question of which technologies and systems will be feasible and helpful in the future. We develop innovative solution approaches for a wide range of problems, from concept studies to prototypes. Our work includes the design and implementation of AI-based solutions for various challenges on the battlefield, the realization and demonstration of software and hardware prototypes, as well as the conception and testing of methods for integrating AI applications into safety-critical systems. All of this is done at the forefront of technology, in close coordination with internal and external customers, and in cooperation with other European key players in the industry.

Your Responsibilities

If you are passionate about developing future technologies and about secure and trustworthy AI and its certification, then you can support us as follows:

• Selection & evaluation of neural networks
• Training of neural networks
• Curating datasets and targeted setup & expansion
• Co-design of overall system and software architectures
• Design and implementation of SW modules according to requirements
• Creation of R&D reports and studies
• Development and execution of internal innovation measures
• Production and support of functional prototypes (Proof-of-Concept), especially in the area of AI-based computer vision

Your Profile

• Many years of versatile professional experience (> 5 years)
• Knowledge of standards and norms (e.g., DO-178C, ED-324)
• In-depth knowledge in the areas of function development, embedded software development, and testing and validation
• Completed university degree in a scientific or technical field (Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Aviation, or comparable)
• Initial, preferably relevant, professional experience
• Theoretical knowledge in the field of Machine Learning / Computer Vision (Neural Networks, CNN and Transformer Architectures, Feature Extraction, Classifiers)
• Knowledge or experience in the area of Trustworthy AI, Explainable AI, and/or Certifiable AI
• Practical experience with modern Machine Learning frameworks, e.g., PyTorch or JAX
• Practical experience with C/C++, Python, and Git
• Knowledge or experience with Object Detection, Image Classification, Image Segmentation, or Metric Learning is an advantage
• Knowledge or experience in the area of software development for safety-critical systems (e.g., for avionics according to RTCA DO-178C) is an advantage
• Knowledge or experience in the area of verification and validation of software is an advantage
• Experience with SCRUM (or other agile development methods) is an advantage
• Very good German and good English skills, both written and spoken
