Position Overview

AI Product Manager

Our enterprise Data and Technology team at Zelis is on the lookout for an analytical and motivated AI Product Manager to join our technical product team. In this role, you will manage the product lifecycle for new AI solutions and use cases, collaborating closely with data science and engineering leads to define business requirements, coordinate various teams, and ensure a strong pipeline for AI applications. Alongside other product managers, you will help deliver our product roadmap to meet the evolving needs of the business.

We are seeking someone who is deeply passionate about data, AI, and analytics and has solid product management experience to join our dynamic technical product team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Become a subject matter expert in your product areas, serving as the primary contact for stakeholders prior to discussions with technical data science and software engineering teams.
  • Partner with software engineers, data engineers, data scientists, and other product teams to explore new or enhance existing AI solutions to boost business value, user adoption, and engagement.
  • Lead conversations with business unit stakeholders to discover business processes and underlying needs; draft precise business requirements and technical documentation.
  • Coordinate with internal Zelis engineering and product teams to manage the intake process for new requests.
  • Understand how your product area aligns with the broader roadmap, identifying both challenges and growth opportunities.
  • Establish key performance indicators to assess product effectiveness.
  • Represent the voice of the customer in technical discussions, facilitating communication between application teams and technical data teams within your domain.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams and various stakeholders, including engineering, architecture, operations, product, marketing, partnerships, and customer success.
  • Work with technical product analysts to support engineering teams throughout the delivery lifecycle.
  • Comprehend the impacts of AI solutions in the healthcare sector and communicate how care recipients connect to the problems being addressed.

Experience Required

  • 3+ years of hands‑on experience in technical product management, with a proven track record in defining product scope and delivering collaboratively with technical teams.
  • Strong understanding and practical experience in Data Science, ML, GenAI, and Data Analytics concepts, along with familiarity with data/product tools like SQL, Python, R, Spark, AWS, Azure, and Snowflake.
  • Adept at listening to various audiences, identifying needs and barriers, and translating these into meaningful AI and analytics solutions.
  • Experience with machine learning, data engineering, and software engineering principles.
  • Technical proficiency that allows you to lead discussions about AI solution design, machine learning models, ETLs, and AI infrastructure.
  • Excellent communication skills, including active listening, clear verbal articulation, and precise writing.
  • Thorough understanding of Agile methodologies and tools such as Jira and Confluence.
  • Experience guiding teams through the AI lifecycle, from compiling use cases to managing workflows for new AI applications.
  • Open to candidates with both B2B and B2C experience outside the healthcare sector; crucial qualities include intellectual curiosity, self‑motivation, and a solid foundation in AI product development.

Location and Workplace Flexibility

Base Salary Range

$105,000.00 – $133,000.00

At Zelis, we strive to provide equitable and competitive compensation. This base salary range reflects multiple factors such as experience, education, qualifications, and job‑related knowledge. Base pay is one aspect of our Total Rewards package, which may also include performance bonuses, commissions, and other incentives related to the role.
