AI Solutions Engineer (m/f/d)

Aroundtown

flexible Today

About the role

You make AI useful in Aroundtown's day-to-day — scoping, building, and shipping the solutions that quietly remove friction across asset management, property management, leasing, finance, and ESG.

This is a hands-on engineering role, and the defining habit is thinking end-to-end. You start from the workflow, not the toolbox. A solution rarely lives inside one platform — it pulls data from a system of record, transforms it, runs it through an LLM or a rule, and pushes the result somewhere a human or another system will act on it. Your job is to design that whole path and pick the right tool for each segment, rather than forcing everything through whatever you used last time.

The toolstack is deliberately open: Power Automate and Copilot Studio for low-code workflow automation; n8n, Make, or Zapier where they fit better; Replit, Cursor, and Claude Code for actual coding; Azure AI services, Anthropic, OpenAI, or open-source models depending on the use case. We expect you to have opinions on when each is the right answer — and when none of them is, and we should buy a vendor solution instead.

What you'll do

  • Identify and prioritise high-leverage AI and automation opportunities — and ship them, end to end.
  • Design end-to-end solutions — from the source system, through the transformation and AI layer, to wherever the output needs to land. Choose tools deliberately for each segment rather than defaulting to a single platform.
  • Build across a broad and pragmatic stack: low-code workflow tools (Power Automate, Copilot Studio, n8n, Make), AI-assisted coding environments (Claude Code, Cursor, Replit) for everything that needs real code, and the LLM or service that actually fits the problem (Anthropic, OpenAI, Azure AI, open-source) rather than the one that's most familiar.
  • Integrate with our systems of record. The most valuable use cases pull structured data from our ERP, property management system, CAFM, and data warehouse — not just from Excel and Outlook. You design and build against real APIs, handle authentication and rate limits cleanly, and treat data contracts seriously.
  • Run focused proofs-of-concept — tightly scoped, time-boxed, with a clear stop/go decision at the end.
  • Plan and facilitate hackathons, ideation sessions, and structured workshops that surface new use cases and build internal momentum.
  • Scope, brief, and manage external agencies, freelancers, and PropTech vendors when a project needs more capacity or specialist skills.
  • Monitor adoption and performance after release; iterate or retire solutions based on what the data and the users tell you.
  • Make sure everything you ship respects GDPR, internal data protection, and compliance requirements from the outset — not as an afterthought.

What you bring

  • End-to-end solution thinking — you instinctively map a problem as a flow from source system to outcome, and you can articulate trade-offs at every step. You don't pitch a “Power Automate solution” or a “Claude solution” — you pitch the workflow and pick the tools that fit.
  • A broad, current toolkit — practical experience across at least several of: Power Automate, Copilot Studio, n8n, Make, Zapier, Claude Code, Cursor, Replit, GitHub Copilot, and direct API integration with major LLM providers. You don't need to be expert in all of them, but you should be quick to evaluate and pick up new ones.
  • API integration fluency — comfortable reading API documentation, designing integrations, working with OAuth and service principals, and reasoning about where data should live and how it should move. You've shipped things that talk to real enterprise systems before.
  • Hands-on coding — practical experience using AI-assisted coding tools to deliver working software. You don't need to be a senior software engineer, but you need to be able to build, debug, and deploy.
  • LLM fluency — practical experience with modern LLMs and generative AI; comfort with prompt engineering and building agentic workflows.
  • Delivery instinct — a track record of scoping tightly, moving quickly, and knowing when to stop. Pragmatism over perfectionism.
  • Vendor management — experience briefing and managing external agencies, freelancers, or SaaS vendors against clear deliverables.
  • Languages — business-fluent in English and German.

Nice to have

  • A degree in computer science, software engineering, information systems, or another quantitative/engineering discipline. Self-taught builders with a strong portfolio are equally welcome — what matters is that you can ship.
  • Experience integrating with real estate systems of record — ERP (SAP, Yardi, MRI, RealPage, or equivalent), property management systems, CAFM, or document management platforms.
  • Experience facilitating hackathons or structured ideation sessions.
  • Background in real estate, financial services, or another data-heavy enterprise environment.
  • Familiarity with data warehousing concepts and BI tooling.

Your perspective

  • Interesting, varied and broad range of tasks in one of the largest real estate companies in Germany and Europe
  • Individual training and coaching for professional and personal development in our Academy and with our in-house business coach
  • Professionally equipped, in-house gym with trainers and courses at the headquarters in Berlin as well as fitness and health offers through the Wellhub platform at all external locations
  • Comprehensive company health management and company pension scheme
  • Support on the way to work through a subsidy for the use of public transport and the option of leasing a bicycle through Eurorad
  • Mobility and flexibility through the use of pool cars and company cars to carry out tasks
  • Flexible working hours and mobile working for an even better work-life balance
  • Exciting virtual range of family-friendly benefits, including vacation programs, leisure and sports activities and consulting services with our partner company Voiio
  • Opportunity to attend Bundesliga matches of FC Union Berlin, our favorite club
  • Discounts in selected hotels worldwide with up to 30% on overnight stays and special conditions on food and drinks
  • Employee discounts for special conditions in the areas of media, fashion, leisure, facilities and much more via a partner company
  • Additional days off on Christmas Eve & New Year's Eve
