About
The World Bank's Digital Development unit for the Europe and Central Asia region is seeking an AI & Automation Consultant to help us maximize the usage of agents and AI tools in our workflows to focus on supporting partner countries in advancing inclusive digital transformation.
The consultant will design, build, and deploy AI-powered agents and tools in collaboration with non-technical team members, automating tasks such as data compilation, reporting and research synthesis.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and prioritize high-value use cases for AI-assisted automation across the unit's workflows
- Operate on a rapid build-test-learn cycle, producing working prototypes and refining them based on user feedback
- Integrate tools with internal platforms and data sources via APIs and webhooks, ensuring secure data flow
- Document solutions and enable team members to adopt, maintain, and extend them
Required Qualifications
- Demonstrated hands-on experience building with generative AI and large language models, including prompt engineering, function calling, and agent orchestration
- Experience integrating systems via APIs, webhooks, and data pipelines
- Proven ability to translate non-technical stakeholder needs into working software
- Sound judgment, integrity, and the ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment
Desirable
- A portfolio of agentic AI implementations (GitHub, demos, or similar)
- Familiarity with responsible AI practices
Contract Details
World Bank Short-Term Consultant (STC) contract, 50 days. Daily rate determined by World Bank Human Resources based on experience and location.
