Responsibilities

As an Investment Banking Analyst at Oaklins, you will play a central role in the entire transaction process leading up to an M&A or corporate finance transaction. Your responsibilities will involve working with entrepreneurs and management teams in many different industries.

Thanks to our collaborative culture, within a few months you will have the opportunity to work with all Partners on mandates spanning between Vancouver and Montreal. What's more, a significant proportion of our mandates involve another Oaklins office around the world, which will enable you to work closely and regularly with colleagues in Brazil, Italy, Japan or any of the other 40 countries with an Oaklins office.

The successful candidate will participate in a wide range of assignments and will be responsible for:

• Participating in Oaklins sell-side, buy-side, or capital raising engagements.
• Conducting detailed financial analysis on historical and projected financial results for Oaklins’ clients and also for other entities that are part of the FTM Group.
• Performing financial modeling in Excel.
• Conducting market and industry research, benchmarking analysis, compiling data on comparable companies that are similar to our clients and performing relative market valuation analysis.
• Drafting marketing materials, including pitchbooks, teaser summaries, Confidential Information Memorandum and management presentations.
• Analyzing the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats specific to a client and its sector in order to assess the risks inherent to the company’s cash flows.
• Participating in discussions and meetings with our clients’ leadership team.
• Developing relationships with current and future clients.
• Participating in business development initiatives.

Skills and Qualifications

The successful candidate will possess the following:

• Bachelor of Commerce with a concentration in accounting and/or finance (other concentrations will be considered depending on the nature of professional experience).
• One year of accounting, finance, or consulting experience through relevant internships.
• CPA, CBV, or CFA designation (or enrollment in such designations) would be considered an asset.
• Strong understanding of the factors driving the value of a company.
• Strong fundamentals and proficiency in financial modeling.
• Highly proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook).
• Familiar with the use of Artificial Intelligence tools (ChatGPT, Claude, and/or Microsoft Copilot).
• Proficiency with S&P Capital IQ would be considered an asset.
• Excellent critical, troubleshooting and analytical skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and capacity to manage priorities.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Ability to learn and succeed in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication and presentation skills including French and English writing and speaking proficiency.
• A team player with great interpersonal skills.
