Key responsibilities

• Data Modeling and Design – Develop and maintain traditional data models for relational databases; Design application-supporting data models using advanced methodologies such as relational modeling, medallion architecture, and data modeling for cloud environments; Create data models tailored for artificial intelligence machine learning use cases specific to CalPERS’ needs.
• Tool Proficiency – Utilize Erwin Data Modeler software to design and maintain data models; Utilize Power BI to model data for visualization and analytics.
• Publishing and Documentation – Support publishing and maintenance of data models on the CalPERS intranet for organizational access; Create, document, and maintain analytical models to ensure data literacy and usability by business users.
• Knowledge Transfer – Provide data modeling knowledge transfer sessions to ITSB team members and key business stakeholders, ensuring they understand and can apply relevant concepts and practices, and take ownership of all models created by the contractor. Advise the development and maintenance of data models by state staff.

Scope of work requirements

• Extensive experience in designing, developing, and maintaining complex data models in Snowflake.
• Extensive knowledge of Power BI, including data modeling, data warehousing concepts, ETL/ELT processes, report development, and performance optimization.
• Extensive experience in designing, developing, and maintaining complex relational data models, including working with Oracle databases and managing Data Definition Language (DDL) scripts.
• Extensive experience in designing, developing, and maintaining AI/Machine Learning-specific data models.
• Extensive experience with Erwin Data Modeler.
• Experience working with state agencies that provide pension and health benefits.
