About The Role
As a Staff Android Engineer at Capital One Canada, you will play a pivotal role in driving the development of our mobile applications, ensuring they are robust, scalable, and aligned with our strategic goals. You will be responsible for leading the technical design, architecture, and development of cross‑platform application systems, collaborating with a dynamic team of engineers throughout the entire Software Development Life Cycle. This role does not involve direct reports but requires advanced hands‑on development, technical guidance, and architectural expertise.
You will be instrumental in delivering innovative features that enhance our customer experience, such as credit score monitoring, personal information management, and pre‑approval tools. Our team is passionate about leveraging cloud‑native technologies, open source solutions, RESTful APIs, microservices, and containers to rapidly bring new products to market. You will work within an agile environment, continuously improving engineering practices and contributing to our culture of innovation and excellence.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 6 years of hands‑on experience developing native Android applications using Java and Kotlin.
- Extensive experience in application and data design, architecture, and development.
- Proficiency with RxJava, Coroutines, Dagger, Espresso, JUnit, and Jenkins.
- Strong background in mentoring junior team members and providing guidance to technical and business stakeholders.
- A bachelor's, master's, or diploma in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
Responsibilities
- Own the technical design, architecture, and development of cross‑functional, multi‑platform application systems.
- Collaborate with a dynamic mobile team throughout all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle, from planning to deployment.
- Enhance software engineering practices by working within agile teams to design, develop, test, and support technical solutions using a full stack of development tools and technologies.
- Provide expertise on how evolving technology impacts the domain, ensuring our applications stay current and innovative.
- Mentor junior, intermediate, and senior mobile associates, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
