The Tender Engineering Manager (m/f/d) holds overall responsibility for technical coordination and technical management during the tender phase of projects. This role operates within international teams across the entire technology spectrum of substations – both onshore and offshore, with AIS and GIS systems, flexible AC transmission solutions (FACTS), and renewable energy solutions – for distribution system operators (DSOs), transmission system operators (TSOs), and industrial clients.
As a technical project manager in the tender phase, the Tender Engineering Manager (m/f/d) ensures that all technical requirements of the bid are delivered on time, within budget, and according to customer requirements. Simultaneously, they promote the development of optimized technical solutions and are responsible for managing technical opportunities and risks throughout the entire tender process.
Your Tasks:
- Overall responsibility for the technical leadership and coordination of all activities in the tender phase
- Definition and control of the technical project scope, schedule, and resource requirements for the engineering team in the tender
- Coordination of interdisciplinary and external stakeholders to ensure technical consistency and interface harmonization
- Ensuring compliance with all technical customer requirements, including conducting clause-by-clause analyses and leading technical discussions
- Promoting knowledge transfer and continuous improvement through lessons learned activities
- Scheduling all engineering activities in the tender and monitoring technical coordination across various work packages
- Consolidating a workload plan for the engineering disciplines
- Developing an engineering execution strategy
- Creating risk assessments for technical content
- Supporting the creation of the execution schedule
Your Profile:
- Completed degree in Electrical Engineering
- Experience in the technical processing of high-voltage projects (EPC), particularly AC substations or FACTS
- Proven experience in technical project management in multidisciplinary and international teams with diverse interfaces
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Leadership competence with clear accountability for results and a commitment to delivering high-quality results on time and within budget
- Willingness to travel approx. 10-20%
- Fluent German and English language skills
- In-depth industry knowledge in the field of transmission or distribution networks
- Knowledge in one or more of the following engineering areas is advantageous: Civil Engineering, Plant Configuration, Protection and Control Technology, Network and System Studies, Electrical Design
- Experience with tools such as AutoCAD, BIM, or Engineering Base is desirable
- Experience with MS Project is an advantage
- Knowledge in the field of renewable energies is a plus
