About

The Anthropologie Merchandise Manager is responsible for growing sales volume and profit for the Daily Practice business by influencing buyers with customer and competitive insights and fashion knowledge. They ensure quality work from the team and coordinate internal and external partnerships to deliver unique products that satisfy the Anthropologie shopping experience. The role requires fashion intuition to direct merchandising of product categories.

Responsibilities

  • Strategize growth of sales and profit for Daily Practice, including understanding annual category growth and relaying information to leadership.
  • Drive bottoms up planning by prioritizing and allocating budgets across product categories.
  • Provide category specific direction to buyers and review detailed assortment plans.
  • Ensure correct driver distortions for fashion positioning each season.
  • Bring customer and market perspective to design process ensuring commercial viability.
  • Maintain peer relationships with design and production leadership for trend information exchange.
  • Coordinate with production for planning needs and develop sourcing and production strategies.
  • Identify marketing and promotional opportunities and contribute to marketing, packaging, and promotional plans.
  • Collaborate with marketing to create strong product narratives that drive traffic in store and online.
  • Determine overall mix of market and private label product for buying areas.
  • Play active role in in-store product placement and prioritize merchandise for customer response.
  • Manage prioritization across product categories aligning with creative team and communicate to field.
  • Manage categories in season through business analysis and develop recommendations to increase sales, improve margins, optimize inventories, and decrease markdowns.
  • Coach and mentor buyers to maximize market resources, margins, and timeliness of product.
  • Facilitate development and lifecycle management of market vendors.
  • Provide buyers with regular performance feedback and annual evaluations.
  • Delegate and direct daily activities of buyers and provide team direction.
  • Develop partnerships with other functional heads.
  • Collect, analyze, and present information to Managing Director for informed decision making.

Qualifications

  • 12+ years of buying and merchandising experience.
