About the role
Role Overview:
We are looking for a Senior Analyst with deep expertise in Google Tag Manager, strong front-end coding and debugging skills, and a sharp understanding of Google Analytics / GA4 and website data layer.
This is a hands-on contract role for someone who can build, QA, troubleshoot, and scale tagging implementations across complex client environments.
We are looking for a specialist with 5–10 years of experience in a dedicated GTM / tagging role, ideally within an agency setting, who can work across analytics, media, strategy, and development teams to deliver clean, reliable data collection.
Key Responsibilities:
Tagging Implementation & Management
- Lead and support Google Tag Manager (GTM) implementations across websites and digital experiences
- Build, update, test, and troubleshoot tags, triggers, variables, and custom JavaScript in GTM
- Ensure tags fire correctly and function across browsers and environments
- Support GA4 / Google Analytics implementations (event tracking, conversions, QA)
Measurement Strategy & Requirements
- Translate measurement requirements into practical tagging solutions aligned with business goals and KPIs
- Align tracking implementations with reporting and analytics needs
Data Layer & Technical Collaboration
- Partner with developers to define, validate, and improve website data layer and implementation requirements
Debugging & Quality Assurance
- Debug front-end tracking issues using developer tools (DOM, console, network, GTM preview)
- Validate data layer accuracy and overall measurement integrity across environments
Workflow & Request Management
- Manage and triage inbound tagging requests via ticketing systems
- Ensure requests are documented, prioritized, implemented, and validated
Automation & Innovation
- Contribute to workflow improvements using AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Anthropic) for debugging, documentation, QA, and efficiency
Documentation & Communication
- Create clear implementation documentation for developers, analysts, and QA teams
Qualifications/Required:
- 5–10 years in a focused Google Tag Manager / tagging implementation role
- Strong experience in an agency environment, supporting multiple stakeholders and fast-moving client requests
Must-Have Skills
- Deep hands-on expertise in:
- Google Tag Manager
- GA4 / Google Analytics
- Website data layer
- JavaScript, HTML, CSS
- Front-end debugging and browser-based QA
- Experience writing technical implementation requirements and collaborating closely with developers
- Familiarity with ticketing / request management systems for inbound work intake and workflow management
- Capability and interest in AI-assisted workflows and automation
- Strong attention to detail, especially around data quality, testing, and measurement accuracy
Nice-To-Have Skills
- Knowledge and experience with sGTM (desirable, but not necessary)
- Experience as part of the Google Marketing Platform (GMP) partner ecosystem (desirable, but not necessary)
