API Engineer

Role Overview

We are seeking an API Engineer to join an enterprise client, responsible for backend APIs that support a wide range of customer‑facing and internal systems within the airline and travel domain. These APIs power digital experiences, partner integrations, and operational tools across the organization.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable backend APIs
• Develop using Node.js and NestJS
• Support APIs for reservations, seat assignments, payments, logistics, and partner integrations
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to understand business workflows
• Assist in modernizing systems as the team moves away from legacy Java 8 applications
• Act as a proactive communicator across technical and business teams

Required Qualifications

• Strong experience building and consuming APIs
• Backend development expertise with Node.js & NestJS
• Experience in airlines, travel, hospitality, or transportation
• Familiarity with industry systems (e.g., Sabre) preferred
• Ability to understand complex data models and workflows

Ideal Candidate

• Background in airlines, hotels, cruise lines, hospitality, defense, or travel technology

Interview Process

• Round 1: 30‑minute conversational interview
• Round 2: Technical interview with the team

Contract Details

• Contract: 12 Months | Potential Full‑Time Conversion

• Pay range: $50.00 – $65.00 /hr
