Appian AWS Lead Developer

About

We are seeking an experienced Appian with AWS Lead to design, build, and maintain secure, scalable, and cost efficient cloud native BPM solutions on Amazon Web Services (AWS). This role will lead architecture and delivery of Appian-based enterprise platforms, ensuring alignment with cloud best practices, security standards, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Architecture & Design

• Lead end to end Appian + AWS solution architecture, including HA/DR, scalability, and performance.
• Design cloud native Appian deployments leveraging AWS services such as EC2, RDS, S3, ALB/NLB, IAM, CloudWatch, and VPC.
• Define reference architectures, deployment patterns, and non functional requirements (NFRs).

Appian Platform Leadership

• Lead development of Appian applications using Appian objects (SAIL, Records, Interfaces, Process Models, Expressions, Integrations).
• Enforce Appian best practices for performance, maintainability, and security.
• Oversee integrations with external systems via REST/SOAP, APIs, and messaging.

Cloud Engineering & Operations

• Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using CloudFormation and/or Terraform.
• Drive CI/CD pipelines for Appian using Jenkins, Git, AWS CodePipeline, or similar tools.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize Appian environments using AWS CloudWatch, logging, and alerting.

Security, Compliance & Governance

• Ensure compliance with enterprise security standards, including IAM, encryption at rest/in transit, secrets management, and audit logging.
• Support risk, compliance, and audit requirements (SOC, SOX, internal governance models as applicable).
• Implement secure access patterns and role based controls across Appian and AWS.

Cost Optimization & Reliability

• Design cost optimized AWS architectures, balancing performance, availability, and spend.
• Implement monitoring and recommendations for AWS cost optimization and capacity planning.
• Ensure high availability, disaster recovery, and operational resilience.

Leadership & Stakeholder Management

• Lead and mentor Appian and cloud engineers across onshore/offshore teams.
• Act as a technical SPOC for clients, product owners, and enterprise architects.
• Support solutioning, estimations, and technical inputs for proposals and SOWs.

Required Skills & Experience

Appian

• 4 to 6+ years of hands on Appian development and platform leadership
• Strong experience in Appian integration design, data modeling, and performance tuning
• Appian platform administration and deployment experience is a plus

AWS & Cloud

• 3 to 5+ years of AWS architecture and implementation experience
• Strong hands on experience with EC2, VPC, RDS, S3, IAM, ALB/NLB, CloudWatch
• Experience with containerization or Appian on scalable cloud infrastructure is a plus

DevOps & Engineering

• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Git-based version control, and automation
• Infrastructure as Code (Terraform / CloudFormation)
• Strong troubleshooting and production support skills
