EMEA Recruitment has partnered with a global packaging solutions organization in its search for an Application Engineer to support its Hard Cheese segment across EMEA.

Operating in a highly technical and customer-focused environment, this role combines flexible packaging expertise with hands-on production line support across leading dairy and cheese manufacturing sites throughout Europe.

The position is highly customer-facing and involves regular travel to manufacturing facilities, supporting packaging performance, troubleshooting technical issues, and driving continuous improvement initiatives across packaging operations.

This role can be based anywhere in Europe, with regular European travel.

Responsibilities

• Support packaging performance, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives
• Provide hands-on support across hard cheese packaging applications such as flow wrap and VFFS technologies
• Optimize packaging performance and line efficiency alongside customer production and engineering teams
• Support packaging trials, testing, and implementation of new materials and laminate structures
• Resolve technical packaging challenges including seal integrity, machinability, barrier performance, and material compatibility
• Collaborate with internal R&D and commercial teams to deliver customer-focused solutions
• Conduct regular visits to cheese manufacturing and processing facilities across Europe
• Provide technical recommendations and application expertise to support customer growth

Skills & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering, Food Technology, Materials Science, Engineering, Dairy Technology, or related technical discipline (or equivalent experience)
• 6-10 years of experience within flexible packaging, food packaging, hard cheese applications, or related manufacturing environments
• Experience supporting hard cheese packaging applications preferred
• Strong understanding of flow wrap, VFFS technologies, and flexible laminate packaging
• Experience with customer-facing technical, applications engineering, or technical service roles
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities within manufacturing environments
• Fluent English is required; additional European languages advantageous
