Sherweb is creating a dedicated architecture role, focused entirely on technological exploration, experimentation, and future-oriented innovation.

This role is not about delivering production systems or supporting product teams daily. Instead, it's about exploring what's next: emerging architectures, new platforms, modern AI agents, new programming paradigms, and transforming this exploration into tangible proof-of-concepts that can then be industrialized by Sherweb's architecture and engineering teams.

You will operate with a high degree of autonomy, curiosity, and ownership. Your success will be measured by your ability to identify high-potential technologies, deepen your understanding through practical experimentation, and help Sherweb make informed decisions about its future directions.

Your Daily Life in this Role

Reporting directly to the Vice-President, Platform and Engineering, you will:

• Act as Sherweb's dedicated technology scout, continuously evaluating emerging software technologies, platforms, and architectural models, both within and outside Sherweb's current ecosystem.
• Design proofs-of-concept (PoCs) and experimental prototypes to validate ideas, reduce risks associated with new approaches, and explore innovative concepts without immediate production constraints.
• Explore new domains even in the absence of an immediate product plan, solely to understand underlying concepts and assess their long-term relevance (e.g., experimenting with projects like OpenClaw even if they are never adopted internally).
• Serve as the bridge between exploration and execution: when a technology shows potential, collaborate with other Sherweb architects to integrate it into the company's context.
• Conduct continuous technology watch on modern software architectures, cloud platforms, AI agents, orchestration systems, MCP servers, developer tools, and new programming models.
• Experiment concretely with new technologies by:
  • Writing exploratory code
  • Building isolated prototypes
  • Creating proof-of-concept architectures
• Design and document experimental solution architectures to clearly explain:
  • The problem the technology helps solve
  • How it works
  • The contexts where it could (or could not) integrate into Sherweb's ecosystem
• Conduct preliminary feasibility studies, prioritizing rapid iterations, accelerated learning, and a "fail fast" approach where relevant.
• Prepare lightweight technical summaries and architecture notes to share learnings with Sherweb's architects and management.
• Work largely autonomously while maintaining strong alignment with the VP, Platform and Engineering.
• When relevant, collaborate with other architects to evolve validated ideas towards broader adoption or industrialization.

What You Must Possess and Master for this Role

• University degree in computer science (or equivalent experience).
• Over 10 years of hands-on technical experience in software development and/or solution architecture.
• Solid experience in designing and experimenting with modern software architectures, including distributed and cloud-native systems.
• Demonstrated experience in evaluating, testing, and experimenting with emerging technologies, not just mature ones.
• Excellent ability to code and build prototypes autonomously, from scratch.
• Proficiency in English (spoken and written); knowledge of French is considered an asset.

• A solution architect role focused on delivery, embedded within product teams.
• A role primarily responsible for production systems.
• A role guided by predefined roadmaps.
• A role limited to Sherweb's current technology stack or domains.

Therefore, the final total compensation will be tailored to reflect the chosen candidate's specific qualifications and expertise, allowing us to remain competitive and equitable in our offers.

Sherweb serves international clients, and proficiency in English is the only way to ensure adequate service delivery to our clients. The main tasks related to this position require written and oral communication with an English-speaking clientele, 100% of the time.
