Job Summary
A leading offprice retailer is seeking an experienced professional to oversee architectural project development for new store openings, downsizes, and remodels. This role involves managing internal and external architectural teams, reviewing construction documentation, and coordinating cross functional project tasks to ensure timely project delivery to the construction team. Regular travel to project sites and corporate offices is required.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Visit prospective store sites to verify existing conditions and validate feasibility plans and scope of work.
- Coordinate with landlord architects/engineers on construction documentation and permitting schedules.
- Review and redline construction documents to ensure compliance with prototype standards, lease agreements, and landlord requirements.
- Manage direct-hired architects for CD development and lead project kick-off meetings with internal stakeholders.
- Ensure final construction documents include all internal departmental deliverables.
- Assist real estate directors in resolving scope issues and manage third-party permit expeditors.
- Coordinate with construction teams on bid processes and attend pre-bid site walks.
- Collaborate with the prototype team on design updates and implementation across active projects.
- Monitor budgets, forecast soft costs, and minimize change orders.
- Participate in weekly project development, value engineering, and status calls.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Construction Management, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in architecture or construction management, preferably with a retail brand or design firm.
- Strong knowledge of architectural construction documents and building codes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, project management tools like Plangrid, and Bluebeam.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong leadership, planning, and organizational abilities.
- Experience managing multiple stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
- Ability to travel 30–35% to store sites and corporate locations.
