About the role

Position: Artificial Intelligence (AI) Engineer II

Overview

At Blue Origin, we envision millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth. We're working to develop reusable, safe, and low‑cost space vehicles and systems within a culture of safety, collaboration, and inclusion. Join our team of problem solvers as we add new chapters to the history of spaceflight!

This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a single‑configuration, heavy‑lift orbital launch vehicle capable of routinely carrying people and payloads to low‑Earth orbit, geostationary transfer orbit, cislunar, and beyond. Its first stage is fully reusable, and the vehicle was designed from the beginning to be human‑capable. Responsibilities

As part of a robust NG RF Systems Launch Engineering team, you will develop and train AI models to automate processes and solve complex problems. You will design, verify, and implement AI systems, ensuring they function effectively and align with RF Systems team objectives. Responsibilities include evaluating machine learning processes and selecting appropriate models, collecting and analyzing large datasets to train AI models, developing and deploying AI algorithms and systems, and collaborating with cross‑functional teams to establish goals for AI processes.

Your implementations will include robust testing and validation of results to ensure accuracy and effectiveness via measurable metrics. You will manage data and project infrastructure and stay updated on the latest AI developments and technologies.

In this role, you will support mission‑critical communication systems that maintain uninterrupted data links between ground stations and flight vehicles during dynamic flight conditions. Working alongside senior engineers, you will help build, test, and deploy the agents, knowledge pipelines, and ML models that reduce operator cognitive burden. You will assist in training and evaluating anomaly detection and time‑series forecasting models on telemetry data. Qualifications • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Machine Learning, or related field • Proven experience as an AI Engineer or in a similar role • Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, C/C++, Java • Experience with machine learning frameworks and libraries • Experience with building or contributing to LLM‑based applications, RAG pipelines, or agent‑based systems • Hands‑on experience fine‑tuning, adapting, and deploying LLM's • Experience with prompt engineering, embeddings, and content management • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS preferred), containerization (Docker), and basic CI/CD practices • Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities, with attention to detail • Solid understanding of CS fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, object‑oriented design, and version control • Effective communication and collaboration skills Desired • Master of Science in related subject areas • Experience with AWS Bedrock, Sage Maker, or equivalent managed AI/ML services • Experience with Databricks or similar platforms for data engineering and ML workflows • Experience with time‑series ML architectures (RNNs, LSTMs, Transformers) for forecasting or anomaly detection • Exposure to multi‑agent system frameworks or agentic AI orchestration patterns • Background with launch vehicle hardware development, integration, or test • Knowledge of RF systems, telemetry system architectures, including multiplexers, encoders, transmitters, receivers, and ground station equipment • Exposure to time‑series data processing, anomaly detection, or ML model training on sensor or telemetry data • Experience with RF link budget analysis and optimization for space‑to‑ground communications • Demonstrated project management skills, including schedule development, resource allocation, and risk management Culture Statement
