AI Engineer
Location: Onsite – Oak Brook, IL
Compensation: $170,000 – $180,000 base
About the Role
This is a high-impact, hands-on AI engineering role with embedded leadership responsibility. You will lead the design and development of AI-driven solutions that directly influence investment strategy, asset management, and operational performance. Sitting at the intersection of engineering, data, and business, this role requires both deep technical execution and the ability to guide a small, growing team.
You’ll operate as a player‑coach—building systems yourself while setting direction, mentoring talent, and helping shape the long‑term AI roadmap across the organization.
What You’ll Do
- Design and deploy production-grade AI/ML solutions that drive decision-making across acquisitions, portfolio management, and operations
- Build and optimize data pipelines, models, and applications that leverage structured and unstructured data
- Develop internal tools and intelligent workflows to automate analysis, reporting, and forecasting
- Partner directly with business stakeholders to translate real estate and investment challenges into technical solutions
- Lead technical direction for AI initiatives, including architecture, tooling, and best practices
- Mentor and guide junior engineers or contractors, establishing a high bar for quality and execution
- Evaluate and implement modern AI capabilities including LLMs, predictive modeling, and automation frameworks
- Ensure scalability, performance, and reliability across all deployed systems
What You Bring
- Strong experience building and deploying AI/ML solutions in production environments
- Proficiency in Python and modern data/AI frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow, scikit-learn)
- Experience working with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and data infrastructure
- Background in building end-to-end data pipelines and integrating multiple data sources
- Ability to operate both strategically and hands‑on in a fast‑moving environment
- Strong communication skills with the ability to interface directly with non‑technical stakeholders
- Experience leading or mentoring others, even in an informal capacity
Nice to Have
- Experience in real estate, private equity, or financial services
- Exposure to LLMs, agent‑based systems, or AI‑driven automation tools
- Familiarity with BI tools and data visualization platforms
