Assistant Controller - Open to Big4 profiles

Role overview

Hands-on accounting role responsible for financial reporting, close processes, audit support, and continuous improvement of accounting systems and controls. Works closely with operations and finance teams to ensure accurate reporting and efficient processes in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support a team of analysts covering accounts payable and inventory
• Support month-end and quarter-end close processes
• Coordinate with external auditors for quarterly and annual financial statements
• Prepare subsidiary stand-alone financial statements
• Identify and communicate audit findings and internal control issues
• Document, maintain, and enforce accounting policies and procedures
• Improve financial reporting processes, systems, and tools
• Support cost accounting, inventory valuation, and cost allocation with operations teams
• Ensure compliance with internal controls and company policies

Competencies / Requirements

• CPA designation preferred
• 5–7+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Big 4 experience is an asset
• Strong experience in close and reporting cycles (GL responsibilities)
• Advanced Excel skills
• Experience in manufacturing, aerospace, or MRO environments an asset
• Experience with ERP systems (Quantum a plus)
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
