Position Overview
DES is seeking an Assistant Project Accountant – Construction to support accounting and project operations. This role is critical to day‑to‑day business operations and is heavily involved in weekly payroll, certified payroll compliance, project reporting, and general accounting support.
The position reports directly to the Controller and works closely with Project Accountants, Project Managers, and department leaders.

Key Responsibilities
- Review and assist with weekly payroll processing, including certified payroll
- Work with project managers and department heads to resolve timekeeping discrepancies
- Record customer payments and support accounts receivable follow‑up
- Manage employee credit card expenses and reimbursements using the Spend platform
- Code expenses accurately for proper job costing
- Assist with monthly financial and project reporting
- Provide general administrative and office support as needed
Qualifications
- Understanding of accounting principles (Bachelor’s degree in Accounting preferred)
- Construction accounting experience required
- Knowledge of certified payroll requirements
- Familiarity with payroll, job costing, and general ledger processes
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to confidentiality and integrity
- Clear communication skills and a collaborative mindset
- Experience with Procore and construction accounting software (Sage Intacct, Foundation, Accumatica, or similar) is a plus

Schedule
- Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM
- Occasional weekend work as needed to meet payroll or reporting deadlines
