About the role
Commercial General Contractor seeks motivated Assistant Project Manager to run a job from start to finish, supervise crew and subcontractors, and keep project on schedule. This person should have knowledge of all trades and OSHA guidelines, be able to anticipate & solve problems, and be hands-on when needed. Must be accustomed to physically demanding work and have reliable transportation.
Skills, Knowledge & Experience Requirements:
- 5+ years of commercial construction & renovation experience managing field crews & subcontractors
- A positive attitude and willingness to encourage co-workers in a team environment
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent problem solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing needs
- Ability to instruct and inspect superior craftsmanship
- Proactive ability to anticipate and solve problems before they arise
- The ability to set priorities and exercise flexibility where necessary
- Construction document & drawing literate, with knowledge of all phases of construction
- Strong knowledge and appreciation of construction safety processes and ability to create and enforce the project safety plan, OSHA 30 certified
- Demonstrated excellence managing the client relationship throughout project
- Capacity to coordinate multiple tasks through superior time management skills
- Works collaboratively and holds oneself to very high standards
- Personal smartphone, Transportation to and from work
- Ability to pass a background check for work in sensitive areas
- Valid driver’s license and ability to drive a company vehicle
Responsibilities:
- Ensure that company policies & procedures are met for safety, scheduling, budget, quality, and customer satisfaction
- Maintain a thorough understanding of contract documents to be able to plan ahead and anticipate potential problems before they arise
- Support the planning and execution of commercial construction projects, including office buildings, retail stores, tenant improvements and public parks structures.
- Assist preparing detailed quantity takeoffs and cost estimates from blueprints, specifications, and bid documents.
- Assist in developing and submitting competitive bid proposals and subcontractor scopes of work.
- Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors to obtain pricing and ensure timely procurement materials.
- Work closely with project manager to monitor schedules, resolve field issues, and ensure on-time project delivery.
- Maintain project documentation, including RFI’s submittals, and contracts, ensuring compliance with project requirements.
- Solicit and analyze subcontractor bids to ensure best value and scope coverage.
- Travel to active job sites to monitor progress, assess workmanship, and ensure adherence to plans, safety standards, and project timelines.
