Assistant Quality Assurance Manager

HCR Permanent Search is working with a leading automotive manufacturer specializing in high‑volume production. They are searching for an Assistant Quality Manager to support quality operations, lead warranty initiatives, and oversee compliance with customer and industry standards.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS • CQE designation or actively working toward ASQ certification • Minimum 5 years of automotive manufacturing experience • Strong knowledge of customer warranty programs, portals, and customer‑specific requirements (Stellantis, Ford, GM, Mercedes, Toyota, Honda, Nissan) • Strong knowledge of AIAG core tools (PPAP, APQP, MSA, PFMEA, etc.) • Experience with IATF 16949 auditing; Lead Auditor qualification preferred • Strong problem‑solving skills (5 Why, Ishikawa) • Effective communication, negotiation, and organizational skills • Supervisory or team leadership experience • Ability to work under pressure in a fast‑paced environment • Strong computer proficiency

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS • Experience within a large Tier‑1 automotive environment • Six Sigma Black Belt or Red X certification • Strong understanding of Lean Manufacturing (5S, VSM, Kanban, etc.) • Strong customer focus and ability to manage customer relationships

RESPONSIBILITIES

Quality Leadership & Systems Management • Support the development and maintenance of the division’s Quality Assurance program • Lead and supervise quality staff, including engineers and technicians • Serve as the IATF Lead and Management Representative, ensuring the quality system is established, implemented, and maintained • Report quality system performance to senior leadership and liaise with external auditors • Ensure compliance with IATF 16949 and ISO 14001 standards

Warranty Leadership • Act as the division’s Warranty Leader, reviewing and analyzing warranty claims • Identify trends, root causes, and contributing factors • Distinguish between quality‑related and design‑related concerns • Recommend corrective actions and evaluate their effectiveness • Provide detailed analysis to support warranty cost‑reduction initiatives • Coordinate improvement activities and pursue warranty cost recovery where applicable • Prepare warranty reports and present findings to senior management • Travel to customer locations (local and international) to support warranty initiatives

Customer & Supplier Interface • Manage customer‑specific requirements and provide technical support • Conduct customer plant visits to anticipate and resolve line concerns • Investigate customer complaints and recommend corrective actions • Review quality records, audit results, NMR logs, and deviation reports to identify preventive actions

Continuous Improvement & Training • Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives • Provide quality training and education to employees • Maintain 5S standards within the department • Participate in cross‑functional teams and project timelines

Additional Responsibilities • Serve as backup for the Quality Manager and Quality Engineers • Perform performance appraisals for departmental staff • Complete other duties as assigned by management
