Associate Advisor (CFP® Required)

The Well

Tysons · On-site Full-time Entry Level $100k – $115k/yr 2d ago

About the role

About

An established advisory team managing $1B+ in client assets within a larger firm overseeing $30B+ AUM is seeking an Associate Advisor who wants to grow into a Lead Advisor role over time.

This team consistently adds dozens of new client households each year through strong referral channels and custodian partnerships. The constraint isn’t leads—it’s advisor capacity.

This role is designed for a CFP® professional who wants mentorship, real client exposure, and a long-term path to owning relationships.

The Opportunity

  • True development role with a clear path to Lead Advisor
  • Work directly with senior advisors on high-net-worth client relationships
  • Participate in client meetings, planning discussions, and investment conversations
  • Gradually take on greater client responsibility over time
  • Success measured by learning speed, client readiness, and progression, not immediate production

What This Role Is / Is Not

This role IS:

  • A hands-on Associate Advisor role with increasing client exposure
  • A structured path toward becoming a Lead Advisor

This role IS NOT:

  • A client service or paraplanner-only position
  • A cold-calling or heavy business development seat
  • A full Lead Advisor role on day one

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • CFP® required (non-negotiable)
  • ~3+ years of advisory or associate advisor experience
  • Experience supporting high-net-worth client relationships
  • Comfortable participating in client meetings and planning conversations
  • Strong financial planning foundation with growing investment confidence
  • Looking for a long-term professional home, not a short-term resume step

Licensing

  • Series 7 & 66 preferred due to hybrid RIA/B-D structure
  • Series 65 or other combinations acceptable if licenses can be obtained

Team Culture

  • Collegial, team-based advisory environment
  • Low-ego culture focused on doing what it takes for clients
  • Advisors, associates, and client service professionals work collaboratively
  • Regular team connection points including shared lunches and milestone trips
  • Leadership philosophy: “Hire thoroughbreds and let them run the race.”

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary around $100K (adjusted for experience)
  • Performance-based bonus during the ramp period
  • Opportunity over time to transition to variable compensation tied to client relationships
  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage
  • 401(k) with competitive firm match (~6%)
  • Business expenses covered for client-facing activity
  • Dedicated office space in a premier Tysons location connected to Tysons Galleria, with upcoming office renovations
