Responsible for the planning and engineering of an organization's systems infrastructure. Includes the implementation and design of hardware and software. Monitors the performance of systems. Typically requires a bachelor's degree in area of specialty and experience in the field or in a related area. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Works under general supervision. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Administer and support RHEL and SUSE systems, including patching, hardening, and performance tuning.
- Automate provisioning, configuration, and patching using Ansible and Red Hat Satellite.
- Manage virtual environments (VMware, Nutanix, Hyper-V) and enterprise storage platforms.
- Oversee DNS/DHCP, backups (TSM, Rubrik), and monitoring systems (Nagios, Datadog).
- Maintain EDR-based system security posture and ensure compliance with security standards.
- Use GitHub and JIRA for code management and workflow tracking.
- Support operational tasks for databases including Oracle, Postgres, DB2, and MySQL.
- Perform network troubleshooting, including routing, firewalls, VLANs, TCP/IP, and connectivity issues.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and scripting knowledge.
- Develop scripts in Bash and Python to automate system tasks.
- Optional exposure to Podman/containerized environments.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 8+ years in Linux administration with strong experience in RHEL/SUSE.
- Hands-on experience with Ansible, Satellite, virtualization platforms, storage, DNS/DHCP, monitoring, and backups.
- Scripting skills (Bash, Python) and familiarity with databases and EDR tools.
