Role Description

Senior Control Systems Engineer / Automation Engineer required to join a dynamic industrial automation solutions provider. You will work with a team of experienced and skilled automation engineers. We desire an engineer with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in designing and implementing industrial automation solutions. This position will be based at our office in Cape Town.

Our preferred candidate will have proven experience in designing and implementing industrial automation solutions across various industries and control system platforms. Additionally, they should possess strong project management skills to ensure successful project execution. This role also involves mentoring and developing engineering talent within the Devcotech team.

Responsibilities

• Industrial automation and process control engineering functions.
• Design and implementation of industrial automation systems for automation projects.
• Program PLC’s, HMI’s, SCADA systems, and related hardware.
• MES & reporting system development.
• Factory acceptance testing.
• Commissioning on site.
• Support / breakdown assistance on site.
• Ensure compliance with safety and industry standards.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Required skills & knowledge

• Expertise in Schneider Electric control systems.
• Expertise in Aveva solutions.
• Expertise in Siemens control systems.
• Expertise in Rockwell Automation control systems.
• Expertise in Inductive Automation solutions.
• Expertise in SQL, MS Windows & MS Server.
• Expertise with Ethernet network configurations.
• Expertise in the following industries; Food & Beverage, Oil & Gas, Water & Wastewater, Warehousing & Distribution.

Qualifications

• Tertiary engineering education.
• 5 Years experience in designing and implementing industrial automation and process control solutions.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment.
• Excellent communication and client-facing abilities.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced multi-tasking environment.
• Willingness to work extended hours when required.
• Willingness to travel and work away from home when required.
• You have meticulous attention to detail.
