Job Summary
The Automation Solutions Engineer plays a critical role in designing, developing, and implementing automated manufacturing systems that enhance safety, quality, productivity, and reliability. This position collaborates effectively with Operations, Engineering, and Maintenance teams to integrate innovative automation solutions, optimize existing systems, and drive continuous improvement across the manufacturing facility.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement advanced automated systems for manufacturing and production processes.
- Program, troubleshoot, and enhance PLCs, HMIs, robotics, and vision systems.
- Support the installation, commissioning, and validation of new automation equipment.
- Conduct root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives to boost system reliability, uptime, and performance.
- Work closely with Operations and Maintenance to minimize downtime and maximize Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
- Create and maintain detailed automation documentation, schematics, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Ensure all automation systems comply with safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
- Assist in new product introductions and equipment upgrades.
- Manage automation-related capital projects and vendor relationships effectively.
- Provide technical training and ongoing support to maintenance and production teams.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- A minimum of 3 years in industrial automation or controls engineering.
- Practical experience with PLC programming (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar).
- Experience with HMIs, robotics, servo systems, and industrial networks.
- Strong troubleshooting skills in electrical, controls, and automated systems.
- Familiarity with manufacturing safety standards and machine guarding.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Background in industrial manufacturing, machinery, automotive, aerospace, or packaging.
- Experience with robotics (Fanuc, ABB, KUKA, or similar).
- Knowledge of vision systems and motion control.
- Understanding of Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement methodologies.
- Familiarity with SCADA systems and data collection.

Work Environment
This position primarily operates in a manufacturing environment and may involve time spent on the shop floor, along with occasional travel required.
