About the Role

The Virginia Department of Taxation seeks an Automation Test Engineer (ATE) for the Office of Technology’s Quality Management unit. The Automation Test Engineer (ATE) will be responsible for defining testing processes and procedures, the development and execution of test scenarios, and mentoring and training of other System Test team members based on automated testing methods research. This role will also provide general support to the team and system test efforts.

In this role, you will play a key role in the interaction, communication and coordination with the various Business Units in support of the Integrated User Acceptance Testing (IUAT). You will work closely with the Business Units to understand requirements and will need to be able to convert those requirements into a system test strategy and appropriate testing scripts/scenarios. Supporting these efforts will include writing, quality assurance (QA), and execution of test scripts to ensure adequate testing.

Location & Schedule

The position is located at our Main Street Centre location in Richmond Virginia and has a hybrid schedule consisting of 3 days in the office (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday) and 2 days of teleworking (Monday and Friday).

Compensation

The anticipated hiring salary is commensurate with experience up to $100,000

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience with programming languages for automation tools such as Ruby, Java/Cucumber, Python and Selenium Web Drive
  • Experience using SQL and other database management tools to write and execute complex SQL queries
  • Experience in developing Automation Test Framework
  • Experience in developing Test Plan, Test Strategy, Test Scenarios and Detail Test Cases using Gherkins, Cucumber
  • Experience working in AzureDevOps/ TFS or any Test/ Defect Management Tool

Additional Considerations

  • Experience with CICD tools such as Jenkins, Git and Maven
  • Experience in Performance Testing (Web Applications/ Web Services) using JMeter or other performance testing tools
