Project Manager
Jacobs
About the role
Your impact
If you’re passionate about shaping the future of aviation infrastructure and thrive at the intersection of design, construction, and client leadership, this role offers the opportunity to make an impact on some of the most visible airside, landside, and terminal projects in the Washington Metropolitan area.
As a Project Manager, you will guide multidisciplinary teams—engineers, architects, designers, and technical specialists—through the full lifecycle of aviation projects. From the first proposal discussion to the final close out meeting, you are the person who ensures that each project is delivered efficiently, collaboratively, and at the highest level of technical excellence.
You’ll serve as the central connection point between clients, regulatory agencies, subconsultants, and internal design teams. Whether coordinating with FAA representatives, state DOTs, or airport authorities, you’ll bring clarity, structure, and confidence to complex conversations and evolving project needs. Strong communication and organization will be essential as you manage resources, schedules, budgets, and documentation—keeping stakeholders informed and engaged every step of the way.
Your day-to-day work will be both strategic and hands-on resolving technical challenges, facilitating design reviews, ensuring quality control, and guiding the development of drawings, specifications, cost estimates, and permitting packages. You will actively monitor project progress—anticipating risks, identifying opportunities, and championing solutions that keep scope, cost, and schedule on track.
This role is also an opportunity to mentor. You’ll support junior engineers and technical staff as they grow, sharing expertise across disciplines and encouraging a collaborative learning environment. And as a visible representative of the firm, you will help strengthen client relationships, contribute to project pursuits, and support on site project or program management when needed.
If you enjoy leading high-performing teams, navigating technical challenges, and contributing to infrastructure that keeps airports operating safely and efficiently, this position offers a dynamic and rewarding path within a growing aviation practice.

- Deep familiarity with MWAA technical requirements, processes, design standards, permitting pathways, and construction coordination protocols, as well as experience navigating stakeholder reviews with regional aviation authorities.
- Outstanding listening, writing, and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical information clearly.
- Strength in presenting data, project progress, and design concepts in a structured and compelling way.
- Strong planning, prioritization, and organizational abilities with attention to detail.
