Cloud / Platform / Systems Specialist (Hybrid – AWS)

The Service Delivery Public Safety IT Team is seeking a Cloud/Platform Specialist to support senior resources and lead infrastructure modernization initiatives across hybrid environments. This role focuses on improving scalability, reliability, and efficiency while transitioning from legacy systems to cloud-centric solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and optimize hybrid infrastructure (on-prem + AWS: EC2, VPC, IAM, S3)
• Support migration of legacy systems to AWS, including roadmap planning and readiness assessments
• Provide advanced troubleshooting for AWS, networking, identity, and compute issues
• Ensure platform resilience with monitoring, backup/DR strategies, and performance optimization
• Drive cost optimization (rightsizing, storage tiering, automation)
• Develop and maintain architecture diagrams, documentation, and IaC (Terraform) standards
• Support CI/CD pipelines and automated infrastructure deployments
• Collaborate with engineering teams on hybrid cloud optimization and migration strategies
• Enforce security best practices (encryption, MFA, IAM policies, network segmentation)
• Produce documentation, audit artifacts, and executive summaries

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in hybrid cloud and AWS environments
• Strong experience with AWS services (EC2, VPC, IAM, S3)
• Hands-on experience with infrastructure automation (Terraform, CI/CD)
• Expertise in troubleshooting complex cloud and hybrid infrastructure issues
• Experience with system design, documentation, and architecture diagrams
