Backend Developer

The ideal candidate will design and build scalable, secure server‑side applications and services supporting Federal Government modernization programs. This role requires strong experience in backend programming, database design, and microservices architecture, along with the ability to develop reliable and high‑performing systems.

As a valued member of the SFI team, you will play a critical role in delivering mission‑critical capabilities and innovative technology solutions to our Federal Government customers.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop server‑side application logic, APIs, and data services using languages such as Java, Python, or Node.js.
• Build and maintain relational and NoSQL database schemas, queries, and stored procedures.
• Implement microservices and service‑oriented architectures following enterprise design patterns.
• Collaborate with frontend developers, architects, and DevOps engineers to deliver end‑to‑end solutions.
• Conduct unit testing, integration testing, and code reviews to ensure code quality and reliability.
• Optimize application performance through profiling, caching strategies, and query tuning.
• Adhere to secure coding practices and participate in security code reviews.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor's in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• 3 years of backend development.
• Demonstrated expertise in: Server‑side programming, database design, API development, microservices, performance optimization.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen.
• Must possess an active Secret security clearance or be able to obtain one.

Desired Skills

• Understand PeopleSoft and related Oracle technology.
• AWS Certified Developer or equivalent cloud certification.
• Experience with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, Karfka).
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps practices.
• Experience developing backend services for DoD or federal agency programs.

Additional Information

• Clearance: Must be a U.S. Citizen with an active Secret security clearance or the ability to obtain one.
• Work Environment: On‑site as required by the contract.
• This is a full‑time, W2 position.
