Additional Information

  • Contract: Until 06/28/2024 with extensions into the next fiscal year
  • Rate: $49/hr on W2 (All Inclusive)
  • Location: 5000 W. Carefree Highway, Phoenix, AZ, 85086 (100% onsite)
  • Shift Hours: Monday to Friday, 8 AM – 5 PM (40 Hours/Week). Overtime expected.
  • Requirements: U.S. Citizenship and background check required.

Position Description

  • Serves as a technical expert for the Department’s software applications.
  • Develops new applications to meet functional and technical designs.
  • Fixes and develops changes to applications following best practices and development standards.
  • Analyzes and resolves issues in applications; proactively solves complex problems.
  • Supports production systems, analyzes and resolves production problems promptly, and addresses end‑user service requests.
  • Completes unit and system testing of application changes to ensure system integrity.
  • Engages with business analysts and stakeholders to understand functional requirements and contributes to functional specifications.
  • Prepares technical documentation on application specifications and interprets project documentation.
  • Creates deliverables throughout the Software Development Lifecycle, including functional and technical specifications, use cases, test cases, and system documentation.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Skills Required

  • Considerable working knowledge of multiple programming languages.
  • Experience with multiple database management systems, specifically MSSQL.
  • Experience designing and developing web tools on various development platforms.
  • Familiarity with or working knowledge of AWS products and services.
  • Experience working in an Agile environment.
  • Strong customer service, interpersonal, written and oral communication, and virtual communication skills.
  • Critical thinking and highly organized to handle multiple projects, sprints, and deadlines; ability to create project workflows, timelines, and project‑based budgeting.
  • Ability to produce efficient, reusable/standardized code based on business requirements; testing and deploying applications; evaluating performance and security of new and existing applications.
  • Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment with thoughtfulness, creativity, and high attention to detail.
  • Ability to train new team members on existing systems or applications.
  • Ability to balance, prioritize, and organize multiple tasks; work collaboratively across teams and organizations; synthesize feedback and adjust plans; quickly learn and develop in new programming languages and APIs.

Work Experience Required

  • 5+ years of programming and analysis experience (or equivalent).
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in .NET web‑based systems.
  • Experience with Visual Studio.

  • Experience with AMS (Arizona Management System) – design, development, and maintenance of web/database applications.
  • Previous experience working in a government agency.
  • Good communication and organizational skills.
  • Experience with WordPress and Pantheon (helpful).

Education/Training Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.

Education/Training Preferred

  • PMP (Project Management Professional) certification is a plus.
